August 16th & 17th 2008 will mark the begining of a new era in quality boutique festivals. The Solas Festival, will take place in the idylic surroundings of Huntington Castle, Co Carlow, 50 acres of woodland amidst the lush scenery of the Wicklow Mountains. This striking castle is the perfect spot for this innovative festival.

Solas aims to set the standard in small independent Irish festivals and strives to provide the highest level of food, facilities, soundsystems and everything in between. Taking world-renowned artists from across the globe and putting them in an intimate setting for the pleasure and entertainment of only 3000 lucky people.

Solas Festival is the brainchild of numerous independent promoters who aim to establish an affordable high quality festival featuring the best national and international musicians and Djs. Hosting an array of acts from every genre, the festival offers everything from Electronic and Reggae to Rock ‘n’ Roll, Traditional and Acoustic while also providing a platform for up and coming Irish acts. No matter what music tickles your fancy, Solas has it covered with 7 stages, and lots of nooks and crannys to bundle into in the wee hours of the morning.

Creating a personal comfortable atmosphere and meeting all the needs of festival lovers is top of the Solas agenda. There will be free camping, equipped with showers and regularly serviced toilets. Inside the festival grounds there will be two bars, including a themed bar, and an off-license.

Solas is an eco friendly festival and waste bags are distributed to festivalgoers who are encouraged to use the on-site Recycling Stations on a daily basis. You are permitted to bring your own alcohol to the campsite but please NO GLASS!!! People’s feet depend on it.

Voted in the Irish Times Culture magazine as one of the top 30 festivals in Europe this summer, the Solas Festival is definitely one NOT to be missed.
